A huge congratulations are in order to Lil Nas X, as he continues to take over the music charts.
It was announced on Tuesday evening (October 22nd, 2019) by Columbia Records, that his hit, “Old Town Road”, featuring Billy Ray Cyrus is now certified Diamond. According to the RIAA, this is the fastest song in history to reach the milestone.
In order to reach Diamond status, a single or album has to sell at least 10 million units. The song was independently released in 2018 as part of the “Yeehaw Challenge”. Since then, the song has been remixed numerous times and it held the number spot on the Billboard Hot 100 charts for a consecutive 19 weeks.
Lil Nas X joins other artists such as Bruno Mars, Justin Bieber, Eminem and Lady Gaga who have also reached diamond status.
