On Thursday, Uber finally released its safety report which revealed over 5,000 reports of sexual assault. These reports were made between 2017 and 2018 and 484 of them were reports of rape.

According to CNN, Uber was slated to release this report a year ago and it was also stated that at least 103 Uber drivers had been accused of sexually abusing or assaulting their passengers within the United States.

Uber has since increased its safety measures by creating a partnership with RapidSOS. The accused drivers have been arrested, have been put in civil suits due to related incidents, or are still wanted by the police.

Uber has also updated the way they conduct background checks on their drivers.
