According to Page Six, Beyoncé reached out to Britney Spears about appearing in an upcoming music video. However, “multiple sources” told the publication that the planned collaboration has fallen through. Representatives for both singers also declined to respond to their requests for comment.

The “FORMATION” hitmaker and Spears go way back. In 2004, they appeared in an iconic gladiator-themed Pepsi commercial, which also starred Pink and Enrique Iglesias. The three females acted as female gladiators who were supposed to go by Iglesias’ command for them to battle, but instead sang Queen’s hit single “We Will Rock You.”

In 2015, Beyoncé and her husband Jay-Z were spotted at one of the “Oops!…I Did It Again” hitmaker’s show during her “Piece of Me” residency in Las Vegas.

Beyoncé released her seventh studio album Renaissance in July of last year. This was her first solo release since her 2016 album Lemonade. The 16-track album, which was released under Parkwood Entertainment and Columbia Records, features Beam, Grace Jones, and Tems as guest vocalists. Songwriter and producer credits were given to The-Dream, Skrillex, Hit-Boy, Nova Wav, Symbolyc One, Honey Dijon, A. G. Cook, Tricky Stewart, and more. Renaissance peaked at No. 1 on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart.
