Some people could see a second stimulus check since The House successfully passed another stimulus relief package.

The first round of checks was under the $2 trillion Cares Act and it was passed in March. Under the $3 trillion Heroes Act, those who qualified for the first stimulus check will receive another payment of $1200. It will be the same set up as last time except $1200 will be given per child for eligible people. There is a maximum of $6000 in payments for a family. In addition, people who were excluded from the first round would get money, including college students, adult dependents, and households with undocumented immigrants where not everyone has a Social Security number.

An additional $200 billion will be added for hazard pay for essential workers and six more months of unemployment due to COVID-19. Forbes reports essential workers are considered to be those who work in the medical and healthcare, telecommunications, information technology systems, defense, food and agriculture, transportation and logistics, energy, water and wastewater, law enforcement, and public works.

If the bill that was passed becomes law, another round of checks will be sent. It can only become law after both the chambers of Congress pass it and the president then signs it.

The House is agreeing to send just one more check instead of a monthly one that most Americans would prefer. It hasn’t been reported when the next vote will take place but the bill getting passed is a huge first step.
