‘Black Panther’ & ‘A Wrinkle In Time’ Make History!

2018 is off to an amazing start.

It has been almost a month since Black Panther was released, and the hype and great reviews of the film has allowed it to become not only one of the biggest Marvel films, but one of the biggest films of all time.

The films opening weekend in China was a huge success, making $66.5 million this weekend taking the film over the $1 billion mark.

The film is the 33rd movie to reach the milestone and the 16th to come from the Disney family according to Variety. He is the second black director to direct a $1 billion dollar film joining F. Gary Gray with The Fate of the Furious.

Meanwhile, Ava DuVernay has helped make history with the film A Wrinkle in Time which earned $33 million this weekend. This makes DuVernay and Coogler the first black directors to have the #1 and #2 spots in the box office. DuVernay aslo becomes the first woman to accomplish that milestone.
