Black Panther Becomes FIRST Superhero Movie To Be Nominated ‘Best Picture’ At Oscars

Marvel’s Black Panther was one of the most talked about films of 2018. Now it is set up to break one more record.

Today (Jan. 22), the Academy officially released their nominations for this year’s Oscars. Black Panther received seven nominations, including the “Best Picture” category, becoming the first superhero film to received the nights top award.

They are set up for a big night, as they are also nominated for Best Original Song, Best Original Score, Best Production Design, Best Costume Design, Best Sound Editing, and Best Sound Mixing.

The film has broken plenty of records following its release as it made $1.3 billion worldwide and $700 million in the United States alone, making it the third highest grossing movie of all time.

The Favourite, Green Book, Roma, A Star Is Born, Vice.
