Music is an universal language. The power of music can aid people to heal in many ways. It can be spiritually, emotionally, and physically healing. Not only for entertainment, music can literally produce biological changes, such as reducing heart rate, blood pressure, and more.

Many don’t know that when we listen to music, our brain releases dopamine. Dopamine is a feel good chemical, it is the body’s messengers “responsible for facilitating communications between nerve cells in the nervous system.” Dopamine is also associated with the brains pleasure and reward system. Imagine this the next time you’re listening to music and you are feeling your best. Music can also reduce anxiety, insomia and depression.

Jhene Aiko sat down for an interview with Elle Magazine. The segment titled, “Wake Up with Jhene Aiko” followed the artist as she started her morning rituals. “Jhené Aiko has a pure heart. We know this, because during a crisp morning at her LA home, she let ELLE.com into her studio — a serene space — and played a crystal bowl that tunes in to one’s root chakras. It can only play the key of C when one’s spirit is in check, something Aiko was able to do, seamlessly. In today’s episode of Waking up With, we spent the morning with her, played with her beloved cats, sipped tea, and set our intentions with her deck of tarot cards.”
