Complete MAYHEM at the U.S. Capitol!
President Donald Trump held a rally to continue his rhetoric that the election was stolen from him. This is also the day Congress votes to certify that Joe Biden won the election.
Trump took the stage to say that he really won the election, which is false. Then Trump’s “make America great again” posse got riled up. Hundreds of the pro-Trump protesters “stormed through metal barricades at the back of the Capitol,” the Washington Post reports. It also says they ran past security, broke fences, and some breached the building. Some even pushed through police officers.

D.C. Mayor Muriel E. Bowser had to put a citywide curfew in place. The article reports,
“from 6 p.m. Wednesday to 6 a.m. Thursday, Bowser said no one would be allowed out in the city, including those traveling by car, bike or other transportation on any city road or in any public place.”
Only essential workers are exempted.
