On Monday, December 17th, Childish Gambino concluded his ‘This is America’ tour.
During the show, Gambino let fans know that he lost his father a couple weeks ago. “I lost my father a couple weeks ago, I wanted to play him some of the new songs, but he didn’t want to hear them because he was like, ‘I know they’ll be great.’ I’m not saying that to talk about music, I say that to talk about trust.”
A fan took to twitter to post a video of the rapper paying tribute to his late father. In the emotional video you can hear him fighting back tears. He told the crowd that before his dad passed, he wanted to play his dad some new music, but, “he didn’t want to hear them, because he was like, ‘I know they’re going to be great.’”
R.I.P to Gambino’s father. Sending him and his family love and prayers.
