Chris Brown is in the hot seat with the law over his exotic pet monkey that he bought last year for his 4-year-old daughter Royalty. Many were concerned for her safety with the capuchin monkey named Fiji since it’s a wildlife animal. Breezy is currently facing two charges for Fiji for having a restricted species without a permit.

The California Department of Fish and Wildlife and the L.A. City Attorney was made aware that Chris had Fiji when he posted a video of the monkey playing with his daughter. Chris is now claiming that the animal isn’t his, and it belongs to a relative, according to a report.

Chris surrendered the pet to avoid his home being raided. Fiji is currently in protective custody. Authorities don’t believe Chris’ story that the monkey isn’t his. If convicted he could spend up to six months in jail.
