The six part docuseries Surviving R. Kelly, revealed a lot of shocking things about Kelly and his survivors who were at the time teenagers when they was with him. It made a lot of people feel uncomfortable with it. One person in particular was Dame Dash.

Dame Dash, the co-founder of Roc- a-Fella Records, was in a relationship with Aaliyah until her untimely death in 2001. Dash revealed that it was difficult for him to watch the part about Aaliyah because it brought up memories of Aaliyah having to deal with the emotional trauma of that relationship.

In a recent interview with Kenyatta Griggs, Dame stated, “I watched some of it yesterday, as much as I could tolerate. I’m not gonna lie, as a human, I was tight. I was tight about a couple of things,” he continued, “Number one: There was a girl when she was even trying to talk about it and she couldn’t, and I remember Aaliyah trying to talk about it and she couldn’t. She would just leave it at, ‘That dude was a bad man’.”

Dash also stated that the joint Jay-Z and R.Kelly album, “Best of Both Worlds”, was a factor in Roc-A-Fella records ending. He also talks about he didn’t want any credit on the album but took the profit to donate it to a breast cancer awareness organization in honor of Aaliyah.
