Dame Dash Opens Up On Jay-Z Working w/ R. Kelly & Aaliyah’s Words About The Singer [VIDEO]

In 2002, following the success of Jay-Z’s hit single “Guilty Until Proven Innocent” on his fifth studio album The Dynasty: Roc La Familia, Hova and R. Kelly collaborated together for their first collaborative project Best Of Both Worlds.

Dame Dash was dating Aaliyah at the time of her death in 2001, and admitted in a new interview with Nick Cannon that his friend’s decision to do work with R. Kelly and turn the other way, even knowing that it hurt his girlfriend at the time.

“So what you think I felt. I’m human bro. I had to look the other way, all these years,” he says. “That n**** did a record with the n**** that raped my girl, that he liked as well. But no one said nothing.”

He also addressed how Aaliyah felt about R. Kelly at the time they were dating, and conversations they would have around the subject of sexual assault and the alleged marriage.

“I remember having the conversation with Aaliyah, and I was like, ‘Yo, tell me what happened,’” he said. “And she was just like, ‘Leave it alone.’”
