This is GREAT news! The National Recording Registry announced today (March 25) that Dr. Dre’s 1992 The Chronic, has been archived in the Library of Congress.Only records considered “worthy of preservation because of their cultural, historical and aesthetic importance,” are put into the exclusive list. It must also be at least 10 years old.25 other recordings were also added and some include, Tina Turner’s Private Dancer, Whitney Houston’s song “I Will Always Love You,” and Village People’s “Y.M.C.A.” Due to the Coronavirus, the library is calling this year’s list of inductees as “the ultimate ‘stay at home’ playlist.” The registry was created in 2000 and so far includes 550 recordings in total. The librarian of Congress, Carla Hayden, selected from about 800 nominations! This is a great achievement congratulations to all the inductees! https://www.instagram.com/p/B8ChIWFp8Rm/SOURCE
