Bryshere Gray, who plays the role of Hakeem Lyon on Empire, is facing a serious legal situation.

Gray pleaded guilty in his federal domestic violence case to felony aggravated assault, as reported on news sources. He must serve jail time. According to court documents, he’ll be in prison for ten days. In addition, Gray has to do three years on probation, where he must enroll in a domestic violence offender treatment program.

Gray also has to submit to drug and alcohol testing; it’s not clear how often. He also has to stay out of trouble and can’t possess any firearms, Tasers, or stun guns. TMZ reports Gray has to pay restitution. In addition, Gray has to check in with his probation officer within 72 hours of being contacted by law enforcement. Gray also needs written approval from the police before associating with anyone who has a criminal record.

Last summer, Gray’s wife claimed Gray throttled her and caused her to lose consciousness. Police attempted to arrest Gray, but he barricaded himself inside his home in Goodyear, Arizona.

Last year, reported on Deadline, Gray said he’s innocent. He said, “It’s been beyond frustrating, and I certainly am not going rogue. I’m still taking the advice of my attorneys and everything like that, but I don’t see, honestly, what staying quiet has done, like, where it has gotten me… It’s so much bigger than me.”
