Flo Rida Wins $82 Million Lawsuit Against Energy Drink Company Celsius

Today (Jan. 18), Flo Rida was awarded $82 million dollars in damages following a lawsuit against Celsius. The rapper claimed that the energy drink company owed him money from a prior endorsement deal in 2014.

According to legal documents, Flo Rida stated that his partnership with Celsius was actually a huge benefit to the company and its products. Unfortunately he wasn’t properly compensated for his contribution. “One percent of the company, that is what he was supposed to get. Their vision [they] intended happened. This was a big risk for him… He had to give up deals with mature companies worth a lot more money,” Flo Rida’s lawyer John J. Uustal said during closing arguments.

Flo Rida is known for his 2007 breakout single “Low” featuring T-Pain. The project became the longest-running No. 1 single of 2008 in the United States, spending ten consecutive weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100. was number one for 10 weeks in the United States and broke the record for digital download sales at the time of its release. With over seven million digital downloads, “Low” was certified Diamond by the RIAA and was the most downloaded single of the 2000s decade. The song was also named third on the Billboard Hot 100 Songs of the Decade.
