Former police officer Michael Slager has been sentenced to 19-24 years in prison after shooting unarmed Walter Scott on April 4th of 2015.
U.S. District Judge David Norton ruled that the ex-cop committed second-degree murder after Slager pleaded guilty to a Federal Civil Rights offense.
Slager’s wife could not control her tears as her husband was given the verdict while Walter Scott’s mother looked the officer in the eye and told him she forgave him.
Social media critics are rejoicing as justice has finally been served, nonetheless, some feel more time in prison would be just.
