Just a few days after numerous protests against police brutality have taken place which led to protestors looting and having multiple confrontations with the police, Governor Cuomo has implemented a curfew on the city. Governor Cuomo announced on Monday, June 1st. While making the announcement, the governor said, “I spoke with the mayor, there’s going to be a curfew in New York City that we think could be helpful. More importantly, there is going to be an increase in the force. There were about 4,000 officers on duty last night. There’ll be double that tonight, about 8,000.” According to Mayor de Blasio and Governor Cuomo, the police will be deployed throughout lower Manhattan and Downtown Brooklyn. The curfew is set to begin tonight from 11 pm - 5 am.
