Prayers up!

It is being reported, that police in the New Zealand said there are “multiple fatalities” after active shooters opened fire in two mosques.

So far, one person is in custody, but police are not sure if there are any other suspects. Police Commissioner Mike Bush states, “As far as we know (the shootings occurred) at two locations, a mosque at Deans Avenue, and another mosque at Linwood Avenue. We are unsure if there are any other locations outside of that area that are under threat.”

He continues, “dealing with a very serious and tragic series of events in the Christchurch Canterbury area. Anyone who was thinking of going to a mosque anywhere in New Zealand today not to go. To close your doors until you hear from us again,” he said.

It was also reported that the gunmen was on Facebook live during the whole incident. Witness Mohan Ibn Ibrahim told CCN, he was” inside the mosque when the shooting began” and that he heard the gunman “continuously shooting for ten to 15 minutes.”

“I was in the mosque. It’s a big mosque and there were more than 200 people inside. The gunmen came from the backside. Gunshots went on for a long time. We had to jump the wall to escape. I saw lots of broken glass and bricks on the backside of the mosque,” he said.

9 people are confirmed dead, and over 40 people have been injured.

This story is still developing.
