Some things in pop culture are truly iconic. This is one of those moments.
Colin Kaepernick was chosen by the company to be the face as they celebrate the 30th anniversary of the “Just Do It” campaign.
According to Yahoo! Sports, the two parties agreed to a new contract which will include his own line of shoes, jerseys, and t-shirts, plus in another kick to the face to the NFL, signed a contract which will pay him like “a top-end NFL player” including royalties.
Two years ago, the story behind Kaepernick kneeling during the national anthem because a huge national story filled with much debate. The move was to bring spotlight to racial injustice in this country, and in no way meant to bring disrespect to the nation and those who fought for the flag.
The former San Francisco 49ers quarterback opted out of his contract with the team in March 2017 and has not been signed with a team since, despite less talented quarterback’s getting an opportunity.
He filed a collusion grievance against the NFL where he received a big win when arbitrator Stephen B. Burbank decided the case could go ahead to a full hearing.
