An 11-year-old boy from Florida was arrested after he refused to recite the Pledge of Allegiance according to Yahoo.
The incident occurred on Feb. 4 at Lawton Chiles Middle Academy. A substitute teacher told the student to say the pledge and he refused. He told the teacher that the flag is racist against black people.
The article also says, “the boy was apprehended by a school resource officer because he wouldn’t follow directions, threatened the teacher with violence, and said the officer and the principal should be fired.” The students mother told the news, “I’m upset, I’m angry. I’m hurt. More so for my son.” She went on to say that nothing like this has ever happened and thinks it could have been handled differently. “If any disciplinary action should’ve been taken, it should’ve been with the school. He shouldn’t have been arrested.”
