New documents show that witnesses named King Von as the killer of Gakirah Barnes in the 2014 shooting.

17-year-old Gakirah was shot and killed back in 2014. She was reportedly apart of the Gangster Disciples, and was shot nine times. The young girl, originally from Chicago, had a reputation as someone who had killed over a dozen people.

In newly-released legal documents from 2014, it’s been revealed that Von was “identified as the offender in the incident.” The documents state, “The [Cook County State Attorney’s Office] reviewed the investigation and concluded that [Dayvon] Bennett was positively identified as the offender in the incident and felt that they would be unable to meet the burden of proof in court and formally rejected charges.”

Chicago officials did not press charges against Von because of their inability to prove the rapper’s involvement for various reasons–possibly including the fact that the weapon was reportedly not recovered.
