Lizzo Responds To Controversy For ‘Truth Hurts’ + Will Credit Woman Who Tweeted Phrase

Lizzo has been receiving backlash for her smash hit ‘Truth Hurts.’

The singer was called out by a Twitter user, Mina Lioness, who claims that Lizzo was inspired by the song from a Tweet she saw. According to Buzz Feed, Lizzo will give the Twitter user credit for the song.

Lizzo took to Twitter to respond to the criticism. In the Tweet, she claims that no one was in the room with her when she wrote the song except her, Ricky Read, and her tears. She also claims that the song is her life. Take a look:

On the other hand, CeCe Peniston claims that Lizzo straight-up stole her song. Lizzo and her team have been in a battle for months over credit for using her song.

Two other men, Justin and Jeremiah Raisen, want credit for ‘Truth Hurts,’ and Lizzo says they had nothing to do with the song. They posted this to their IG, explaining the “truth” behind “Truth Hurts.”

Lizzo’s reps told the New York Times that Justin and Jeremiah didn’t contribute to the song. Lizzo is fighting against them in a lawsuit, Variety reports.
