Missy Elliott continues to make history! The rapper will now be the first female hip-hop artist to receive an honorary Doctorate Degree from Berklee College of Music this upcoming Spring. The school’s president, Roger Brown, will also be honoring Justin Timberlake and three-time Tony and Grammy Award-winner Alex Lacamoire.

Missy and the other honorees will join the previous recipients that included B.B. King, Smokey Robinson, Willie Nelson, Loretta Lynn, and Aretha Franklin. The ceremony will take place on May 11th at Boston University’s Agganis Arena.

Earlier this year, Missy made history by becoming the first female rapper to be inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
