Congratulations are in order!

Missy Elliott will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame alongside Willie Nelson, Chaka Khan, Sheryl Crow, and the late George Michael will also be inducted.

John Sykes, chairman of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, explains, “Missy Elliott got in first ballot, just like Eminem got in first ballot last year and Jay-Z the year before. So if there’s a throughline we’re seeing, it shows the power of hip-hop music culture now, as if we didn’t know it already, as far as how quickly these artists are being recognized on the first ballot.”

DJ Kool Herc is also in this years class in the “musical influence” division; and “Soul Train” TV host Don Cornelius as the recipient of the annual Ahmet Ertegun Award. Unfortunately, A Tribe Called Quest was not accepted into this year’s Hall of Fame.

The 2023 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame will take place at the Barclays Center on November 3rd.

Congratulations to all the inductees.
