Missy Elliott is the First Female Rapper to be Nominated in the Songwriters Hall of Fame

Missy Elliott has made history. The multi-talented rapper has been nominated into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, making her the first woman to do so.

For more than 20 years, Missy has given fans many hits that are considered to be timeless. To show her gratitude she went to her Twitter to express how grateful she is to be nominated. Missy joins Jay Z, who was the first rapper to receive this honor in 2017 and Jermaine Dupri who was inducted in 2018.

The 50th annual Induction and Awards Gala will take place on June 13th, 2019 in New York City. Missy will be joined by Mariah Carey who has also been nominated.
