Nia Long speaks out following her reports that Ime Udoka had an affair with a female staff member.
The Boston Celtics coach has been suspended for the 2022-2023 season. Reports claim Udoka participated in an intimate relationship with a woman who works for the franchise’s staff. The suspension is expected to begin as soon as today (Sept. 23). The two of them reportedly breached a violation of the organization’s guidelines.
In a statement Nia says, “the outpouring love and support from family, friends and the community during this difficult time means so much to me,” she said in the statement. “I ask that my privacy be respected as I process the recent events. Above all, I am a mother and will continue to focus on my children.”
Udoka also spoke out following the news. He says, “I want to apologize to our players, fans, the entire Celtics organization, and my family for letting them down,” Udoka said in a statement to ESPN. “I am sorry for putting the team in this difficult situation, and I accept the team’s decision. Out of respect for everyone involved, I will have no further comment.”
