Nicki Minaj’s Brother Jelani Maraj Facing LIFE For Rape Conviction

Nicki Minaj may never see her brother Jelani Maraj outside of jail ever again.

In Nov. 2017, he was convicted of raping his then 11-year-old stepdaughter and has been locked up since.

Maraj and his legal team appealed the case but a judge denied it. This was Maraj’s final chance at beating the case. He claims that the charges are “bogus” and it was an attempt to extort Nicki Minaj out of $25 million.

“These are a bunch of lies. There’s a big, big motive to lie here which I can’t get into right now. But these are false accusations.”

Maraj could face life behind bars. His sentencing is scheduled for Nov. 18.

Jelani Maraj will be incarcerated for a considerable amount of time after being found guilty of child rape on Thursday, November 9. Newsday reports that Maraj (38), the brother of rapper Nicki Minaj, was convicted in Nassau County Court on a felony charge of predatory sexual assault on a child. The jury also convicted him of endangering the welfare of a child. His attorney claimed the allegations were made up by the victim’s mother in an attempt to extort $25 million from Nicki The trial lasted a month. Maraj allegedly raped his 11-year old stepdaughter repeatedly at his Baldwin, New York home between April and November 2015 while her mother was at work. He was immediately taken into custody after the verdict was read. State Supreme Court Justice Robert McDonald ordered him held without bail in Nassau County jail. Maraj had been free on bond.
