Just in, New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy signed an executive order directing New Jersey Transit to cut capacity to 50 percent of their maximum. Trains, buses, light rail vehicles and para-transit vehicles in New Jersey are included in this order.
“Right now, for many of our essential workers public transit is how they get to work and we need to protect them during that trip,” Murphy said.
He also expanded the requirement of face coverings to all customers walking into restaurants to retrieve take out orders. This does not mean you need to have a medical grade mask, “There are any number of ways you can cover your mouth and nose with a bandana or homemade fabric covering,” Murphy said.
The executive order goes into effect starting Monday at 8 p.m.
NEW: I am expanding the requirement to wear a face covering to ALL customers heading into one of the restaurants and bars that remain in operation as they get their takeout orders.
If you’re not walking into an establishment, a face covering will not be required.
