NYC Public Advocate Jumaane Williams Has A Message For New Yorker’s: ‘Stay At Home!’

Jumaane Williams On Ebro in the Morning

NYC Public Advocate Jumaane Williams calls into Ebro in the Morning to discuss some of the things he has been seeing while New York’s stay at home order is in place.

During the conversation, he addresses how people in the city have to listen to directions to stay home, and how simple messaging can help change the way people are conceiving the message.

Williams spoke about the number of people he saw defying orders to stay at home, instead deciding to socialize, play basketball, and even have a wedding during the circumstances.

“It’s scary,” he said. “Not only are they endangering themselves, but they are endangering the rest of us.”

He also called for the importance of consistent messaging from our leaders.

“This is what we have to do,” he said. “If you tell people you can’t go out, they are going to go out. Tell people it is a lockdown. It is a mandated lockdown.”
