Outkast and The Neptunes have a chance to etch their legacy in history.

According to Billboard, both groups have been nominated for the Songwriters Hall of Fame. Their nomination comes after writing hit songs for the last 20 years.

The Neptunes have produced massive hits for the likes of Jay-Z, N.O.R.E., Usher, Snoop Dogg, Justin Timberlake, Beyoncé, and more. Meanwhile, over the years, Outkast have also cemented themselves as one of the premiere groups in hip hop history with countless hits over the years.

They are joined by legend Rock group R.E.M., Gloria Estefan, the Isley Brothers, Mariah Carey, and more. They also join non-performing songwriters.

If elected, The Neptunes and Outkast will join other hip hop acts such as Jay-Z, Jermaine Dupri and Missy Elliott.

Six winners will be inducted at its 51st annual Induction & Awards Gala in New York on June 11, 2020.
