This is a very RARE ruling!
According to reports, when R&B singer Robert Kelly, goes on trial for racketeering and sex trafficking charges, he will be heard by an anonymous and partially sequestered jury. This ruling doesn’t happen often, only with cases that “involve a serious threat in the form of a defendant with ties to a mob or terrorist organization,” The Hill reports. District Judge Ann M. Donnelly made the ruling last month and said,
“Empaneling an anonymous jury is appropriate given the seriousness of the charges, the defendant’s history of obstructing the judicial process, the potential for juror intimidation, and the intensity of media attention given to this case.”
Back in 2008 when R Kelly was acquitted, it was alleged that R. Kelly influenced witnesses and jurors. Over the summer, three associates of R. Kelly were arrested for allegedly bribing or threatening victims in his case. R kelly survivor Azriel Clary’s car was set on fire.
The “Bump N Grind” singer is being held without bail in a federal prison in Chicago.
