Issa Rae took HBO by storm with her hit show Insecure, and now she’s ready to tackle the big screen.

According to a source, Issa Rae is working on a New Line’s 1996 Set It Off remake which starred Jada Pinkett Smith and Queen Latifah.

Rae’s partner at Issa Rae Productions, Montrel McKay will also produce with her.

The original film is based on a group of four girlfriends who are fed up with being broke, and band together to commit a string of robberies. They experience the glory of having money but it takes a tragic turn in the end. It’s not clear if the remake will tell the same story or will have a new storyline.

Details on the release date haven’t been made yet but we’ll keep you updated with details!
