Domestic violence is not a joke.

This week, Snapchat released an ad on their feed called “Would You Rather?” Inside of the graphic it was asked if you rather “slap Rihanna” or “punch Chris Brown.”

While they were in a relationship, Chris Brown and Rihanna were involved in a physical altercation in 2009 in which the former pled guilty and was sentenced to community service.

Today (March 15), Rihanna blasted Snapchat and questioned their decision to post the ad as well offend the thousands of women who have been victims of domestic violence in the past.

“I’m just trying to figure out what the point was with this mess,” she exclaimed. “I’d love to call it igfnorance, but I know you ain’t that dumb! You spent money to animate something that would intentionally bring shame to DV victims and make a joke of it!!!”

Chris Brown’s lawyer Mark Geragos also reacted to the offensive ad to US Weekly.

“They should change their name from Snapchat to Tone Deaf,” he said.

Brown himself is yet to respond.

Snapchat apologized for the ad and pulled it following the intense backlash to BBC’s Newsbeat.

“The advert was reviewed and approved in error, as it violates our advertising guidelines. We immediately removed the ad last weekend, once we became aware. We are sorry that this happened.”
