Sha’Carri Richardson was banned from the Olympics after testing positive for marijuana. The sprinter will not be participating in this year’s Tokyo Olympics at all.
Earlier today, the USA Track and Field released their roster, and Richardson’s name did not appear. According to ESPN, Richardson’s positive test “nullified her win at Olympic trials in Eugene, Oregon”
Richardson was suspended for 30 days, with it ending right before the relay races start on August 5th. This date left an opening for Richardson to run the 4×100 relay team.
Sha’Carri Richardson’s agent Renaldo Nehemiah spoke on her behalf and stated that “We haven’t spoken about it at all. It was actually not a topic we focused on.”
