International singer, Shakira, is reportedly facing criminal tax charges. According to Spanish newspaper, El Pais, after a year-long investigation, the Spanish government is claiming that she owes 14.5 million euros to the government.

Apparently, if she spent a minimum of 183 days in Spain, she is considered a resident of the country and must pay taxes on her global income. Her team states the claims are false, and she owns no money.

The singer’s team said in a statement, “Shakira has at all times fulfilled her tax obligations and owes no money to the Spanish Treasury. As soon as she was made aware of the amount that according to the Tax Agency she owed, as a gesture of good faith, she made the payment in full, and, therefore, there are currently no monies owed.”

We hope Shakira gets this all straight!
