The late DMX passed away at 50, Friday night (Apr. 9). The Yonkers native reportedly suffered a heart attack, and the world has been mourning his passing since.

At the time of his passing, his family released a statement reading, “we are deeply saddened to announce today that our loved one, DMX, birth name of Earl Simmons, passed away at 50-years-old at White Plains Hospital with his family by his side after being placed on life support for the past few days. Earl was a warrior who fought till the very end. He loved his family with all of his heart and we cherish the times we spent with him. As his friends family, and fans all around the world is still processing his passing, a lot of misinformation has been spread across the internet. One rumor that made headlines is that Jay-Z and Beyoncé bought his masters for $10 million to give to his children. DMX’s longtime friend, and partner, Swizz Beatz denied those rumors.

There’s no word on where the rumor was born, but @chakabars posted a message leaving his followers under the impression that The Carters were buying the masters. Swizz Beatz jumped in the comment section and shut down the rumor, writing, “Not true King,” along with a prayer hand emojis.
