Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has recently opened up about a pivotal moment in his life, and that is when his mother attempted suicide in front of him.

In an interview with a U.K publication titled Express, The Rock discussed a painful memory in his past, and how he was able to learn, grow, and heal from it.

The multi-talented entertainer recalled being 15 years old when his mother tried to end her life by getting out of the car while on Interstate 65 in Nashville, and walking onto oncoming traffic.

“I grabbed her and pulled her back on the gravel shoulder of the road,” said Dwayne Johnson… “What’s crazy about that suicide attempt is that to this day, she has no recollection of it whatsoever. Probably best she doesn’t.”

He went on to explain how if he did not take care of the depression he experienced after that moment, he too may  have suffered suicidal thoughts like his mother.

Thankfully the two are both okay, and living healthy lives, nonetheless, Johnson wants to spread the word about how people must help each other in disparaging times of pain.

“We both healed but we’ve always got to do our best to pay attention when other people are in pain…We have to help them through it and remind them they are not alone.”
