The State of Minnesota File Civil Rights Charges Against Minneapolis Police Department

The State of Minnesota has decided to bring charges against the Minneapolis police department. 

The department has been hit with a civil rights charge that comes one week of the death of George Floyd. Minnesota’s Governor, Tim Walz, made the announcement on Twitter. See the tweets below. 

Reports state that the Human Rights Commissioner Rebecca Lucero’s agency served the city of Minneapolis at 1 p.m. Lucero also released a statement on her expectations on this case. 

“We’re really hoping that this is something we can move very quickly on, because of shared values and goals around this issue.” 

The Minneapolis City Council also stated that they would help out.
