Gun violence is at an all-time high.
On August 14th a man opened fire and shot six police officers.
According to a report, police were visiting a home that they had a warrant for. “Gunfire initially erupted around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday after narcotics officers served a warrant to a home near North 15th and West Butler streets, according to officials.”
“As officers rushed upstairs, a gunman waiting downstairs with an assault-style weapon fired several rounds through the ceiling. Police returned fire while several officers escaped through windows and doors, according to a report.
Maurice Hill has been named the suspect in the attack. He allegedly shot the police from a second-floor window in Southwest Philly. According to a report, Hill has a “long history” with violence and has been arrested over a dozen times. He also just had a newborn and works at Chucky Cheese.
After a 7-hour standoff with police, Hill surrendered. He is likely to be charged with six counts of attempted murder and aggravated assault, according to his longtime attorney Shaka Johnson, reported on a source.
