Walmart is changing its policy when it comes to hair care products designed for black people.

On Wednesday, (June 10th), the company announced that it will be ending its practice by keeping its black hair care products locked up in over a dozen of its 4,700 stores nationwide.

Walmart released a statement on the new change, “Like other retailers, the cases were put in place to deter shoplifters from some products such as electronics, automotive, cosmetics, and other personal care products.”

According to CBS, one shopper described her shopping experience at Walmart when it came to certain products. “The multicultural hair care is all locked behind the glass. That’s so ridiculous.” Other shoppers have also called out the retailer stating that this incident happens all the time.
