This is heartbreaking and so horrible.
Body camera footage shows a white Forth Worth, Texas officer killing a woman inside of her own home Saturday (Oct. 12) morning.
The unidentified officer visited Atatiana Koquice Jefferson’s, 28, home after her neighbor, James Smith, called 911 for a non-emergency call. Smith claims he noticed Jefferson’s door open.
In the footage, you can see the cop peering inside Jefferson’s window with his flashlight. He yelled “put your hands up. Show me your hands.” Then he fired his weapon and killed Jefferson.
The video goes black after that. Jefferson died instantly.
The incident is now under investigation by the police department’s major case and internal affairs units as well as the Tarrant County District Attorney’s law enforcement incident team, reported on a source. The department issued a statement saying that the officer received a threat and fired one shot that struck Jefferson. The cop was on the force since April 2018.
The article also says Smith said, “There was no reason for her to be dead, because there was nothing violent going on. There was no distress at this particular property. They had no reason to come here with guns drawn.
Jefferson was watching her nephew before she was murdered.
Our hearts and prayers are with Jefferson’s family during this difficult time.
