On Wednesday (Nov. 18), HBO Max aired the much anticipated Fresh Prince Reunion special which included all of the original cast including both actresses who played Aunt Vivian Banks.

It was a long road to that very moment following a decision no not renew Janet Hubert’s contract in the middle of their successful run. After 27-years of Will Smith and Hubert not speaking, and throwing shots at each other back and forth, the two had a moment to discuss their issues, and reconcile their differences.

Following the show, Hubert expressed her gratitude and thanks for helping her heal one of the hardest moments of her life and career.

“I am so thankful for all the love being shown and the understanding,” Hubert wrote in a tweet. “Will and team let me participate in whatever I wanted and felt comfortable doing. After 27 years of disconnect we are all different people. It was great seeing everyone, life is too short!”

Will Smith also sent a message directly to Hubert after the conversation on his Instagram page.

“It was beautiful seeing YOU and more importantly hearing you,” he said. “Thank you, Janet.”

A great positive moment, and a perfect close to the chapter!

At one point during the reunion, Hubert addressed the hurt the two’s feud put on her career.

Words can kill. I lost everything. Reputation, everything, everything. I understand you were able to move forward, but you know those words, calling a Black woman difficult in Hollywood is the kiss of death. It’s the kiss of death. It’s hard enough being a dark-skinned black woman in this business.”

Powerful.

Fresh Prince of Bel-Air Reunion special is available to stream now on HBO Max.
