As reported in the New York Post, a Louisiana teacher, Cynthia Perkins, 36, admitted to giving her students cupcakes laced with her now ex-husband’s sperm. She’s been sentenced to 41 years behind bars.
Perkins was hit with a harmful substance charge after admitting to putting her ex-husband’s sperm into cupcakes that she gave to students at Livingston’s Westside Junior High School.
In addition, Perkins admitted to more disturbing sex crimes like child pornography, second-degree rape, and mingling of harmful substances. Perkins and her now ex-husband, Dennis Perkins, were arrested in 2019 on more than 150 sex crime-related charges — including sexually abusing a child together, the outlet reports.
Under the plea deal, Cynthia had 68 other charges against her dismissed and will have to testify against her ex-husband at his upcoming trial. Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry said in a statement,“She not only waived any right to appeal and attempt to avoid conviction, but she also spared the victims from reliving her horrific crimes during this particular trial.”
Perkins filed for divorce from her husband after their arrest. She claims her ex-husband manipulated her into committing the crimes.
After authorities received a tip at the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, the couple was busted. Mr. Perkins is scheduled to face trial in May on 150 criminal charges.
