Hot New Music For November 2021!

Big Sean performs for the BET Hip Hop Awards 2020
UNSPECIFIED – UNSPECIFIED: In this screengrab released on October 27

Hot new songs to keep you warm this winter!

Fall is transitioning into Winter, the hype around Kanye and Drake has finally faded into the background, and now we can kick back and enjoy some new music. There are tons of great new projects our now! Obviously everyone knows about Wale’s new album Folarin II and Meg Thee Stallion’s new project Something for Thee Hotties – so we’re going to highlight some new music that you may have missed!

PROJECT TITLE: What You Expect
ARTIST: Big Sean & Hit-Boy
LENGTH: 6 songs – EP
RELEASE DATE: 10/29/2021

Big Sean always shows up and reminds fans how talented he is. Big Sean dropped his legendary Finally Famous mixtape in 2007 – meaning he’s been consistent in the rap game for nearly 15 years. This project “What You Expect” is exactly what you expect from Big Sean. To start the album, he spits quick and witty bars on Chaos and Into It – then he has four straight hits with The One, Loyal To A Fault, Offense, and What A Life. All four of the final six songs could get radio play and will receive well over 1,000,000 streams.  Hit-Boy really fine-tuned Big Sean’s sound.

Alongside Hit-Boy and Big Sean, features on the project are Bryson Tiller, Lil Durk, 42 Dugg, and Babyface Ray. This is technically Big Sean’s first EP – and it’s likely just a warm up for an album release in 2022.

PROJECT TITLE: I’m Cool With That
ARTIST: T-Pain
LENGTH: Single
RELEASE DATE: 10/29/2021

“Simpin’ Ain’t Easy!” T-Pain tells us in this undeniable Fall bop. “It’s cuffin’ season, that’s facts,” he sings in classic T-Pain autotune. It’s one of the first rap songs I’ve ever heard from the perspective of a simp. He talks about his girl “doing him wrong,” but T-Pain “always comes back.” Put this song in the same category as Bartender, T-Pain is telling a story in a way that only he can. His continued evolution as an artist has been fun to watch, recently it seems like he’s found his magic from the early-2000’s.

PROJECT TITLE: No More, No Less: Demo 1
ARTIST: REASON
LENGTH: 3 songs – EP
RELEASE DATE: 10/29/2021

This is not a project that many people saw coming, but it’s a unique and interesting project. On streaming services, the project is listed as being by “REASON, Wale, and Benny the Butcher” despite the fact that TDE rapper REASON is the only artist on every song on the project.

The first song Left Hand sounds like a REASON song, the second song Not for Me sounds like a Wale song, and the third song 12am in Atl is clearly a Griselda song. No More, No Less: Demo 1 features Isaiah Rashad, Wale, Benny the Butcher, Zacari, Ado, and Doe Boy. As a whole, the project is less than 10 minutes, however – it’s a concise and fun listen. If you enjoy REASON and Isaiah Rashad, you’ll enjoy this project – but Wale fans who find this on streaming services may be less interested.

PROJECT TITLE: Sometimes I Might Be Introvert
ARTIST: Little Simz
LENGTH:  19 Songs – Album
RELEASE DATE: 10/29/2021

British rappers aren’t all using drill beats. Little Simz came on my radar a few years ago, she’s comparable to Tierra Whack, NoName or Solange in the United States. Her music is thoughtful and her sound is fully realized. This album Sometimes I Might Be Introvert is truly beautiful at points, live drums, piano chords, and really robust tracks.

Miss Understood and Two Worlds Apart are two rap clinics by the London rapper. Keep an eye out for Little Simz, she’s got a song on the new Venom movie and it seems the world is starting to take notice to her talent.

PROJECT TITLE: Regatta
ARTIST: Curren$y & Harry Fraud
LENGTH: 8 Songs – Album
RELEASE DATE: 10/29/2021

Curren$y is from New Orleans, but has mastered a California-inspired sound. His latest album is Regatta, and his past projects The Marina and Still Stoned on Ocean tend to evoke ideas of driving along the Pacific Ocean.

Regatta is filled with Curren$y’s smooth delivery and Harry Fraud’s rich beats. This album features: 2 Chainz, Larry June, Jay Worthy and Styles P.

PROJECT TITLE: Better Days
ARTIST: NEIKED, Mae Muller, and Polo G
LENGTH: Single
RELEASE DATE: 9/24/2021

This song will pop off in a few months and be around forever. Polo G’s verse is why I included what’s essentially a pop song on a hip-hop website. Better Days will play on Top 40 stations and the Polo G verse will get clipped by DJ’s to play in the club.

Before this song I was unfamiliar with NEIKED and Mae Muller, but they teamed up with Polo G to make a hit! It’s interesting to see Polo G so comfortable in the pop lane, he does a great job on this song and it’ll be interesting to see if it helps get him more mainstream appeal.
