Latto dropped a new single called “Big Energy.”
The song is fun and has a Mariah Carey sample from her song “Fantasy.”
“Big Energy” is accompanied by a video where a lucky man won the lottery. There’s a scene where Latto uses Cupid’s arrow to get the man of her dreams. Take a look:
Earlier this year, Latto changed her name. It was initially Mulatto. Last year, online critics bashed her for her stage name, Mulatto. By definition, the word describes the offspring of one white parent and one Black parent. Historically, the term is offensive.
Latto spoke with Hip Hop DX in 2020 and said she’s thinking about changing her name. She said, “I would be lying to say it hasn’t crossed my mind before. It is a controversy that I hear and see every day as far as my name goes, so I would be lying to say no, I never thought of that. But I can’t say too much right now because it’s going to be a part of something bigger.”
