In a surprising twist in the world of celebrity politics, 50 Cent has once again directed his attention toward Floyd Mayweather, this time in light of Conor McGregor‘s unexpected announcement to run for President of Ireland. The UFC star’s foray into the political arena comes after his recent visit to the White House to meet with President Trump, coinciding with St. Patrick’s Day celebrations.
Upon hearing the news, 50 Cent took to Instagram to deliver a pointed critique of Mayweather, referencing the boxer’s struggles with literacy. He quipped, “See what happens when you can read champ, the shit just matters,” highlighting the ongoing rivalry between the two. McGregor’s political ambitions have stirred considerable controversy, particularly due to his outspoken anti-immigration views. He asserted that Ireland is at risk of losing its cultural identity, a claim that did not go unnoticed by the current president, Micheál Martin, who swiftly dismissed McGregor’s rhetoric.
50 Cent Clowns Mayweather Over Trump Endorsement Amid Political Flip-Flops
This latest jab from 50 Cent follows Mayweather’s recent endorsement of Trump, which was made during an appearance on the Fox Business program, Making Money with Charles Payne. Mayweather openly lauded Trump as a great president, stating, “When we had Trump before, we didn’t appreciate him. But I think Trump is a great president, one of the — actually he’s the best president. In my eyes, he’s the best president we ever had.”
The boxer’s comments, which emphasized Trump’s business acumen, incited a response from 50 Cent. He remarked, “YO you know how, when you’re in school and a kid eats the crayons. Now you see what happens when they grow up. Spell BEST PRESIDENT champ! LOL,” demonstrating his disdain for Mayweather’s political views. Interestingly, 50 Cent himself has had a tumultuous relationship with political endorsements. In 2020, he expressed strong opposition to Joe Biden’s tax proposals, leading him to vocally support Trump on social media. However, after facing backlash from fans, he later shifted his allegiance back to Biden as the election approached.
