50 Cent’s first annual Humor and Harmony festival was a huge success last weekend in Shreveport, Louisiana. Local news reported that 50 will pay 500 thousand to cover the cost of law enforcement after the mayor praised him for hosting a crime-free four-day festival.
Shreveport Mayor Tom Arceneaux issued the following statement regarding the bill for festival safety:
“Curtis ‘50 Cent’ Jackson and his team at G-Unit have agreed to pay the costs incurred for security directly related to the events at the Humor & Harmony Festival. We anticipate those costs will approach $500,000. This gesture is a testament to Mr. Jackson’s pledge to help revitalize the Red River District of Downtown Shreveport in a fun, and most importantly safe, way. The G-Unit organization and the City of Shreveport proved through the success of the Humor & Harmony Festival that we can make big things happen when we work together as a team.”
The inaugural festival featured a huge line-up of the biggest names in comedy and music. Artists such as DaBabby, Moneybagg Yo, and 2 Chainz performed, while comedians such as Katt Williams, Michael Blackson, and Andrew Schulz told jokes. Dave Chappelle made a surprise appearance.
“I flew all the way to Shreveport because anytime history is made, I don’t want to miss it. And this is history,” said Chappelle to a sold-out crowd. “Curtis Jackson has been both the American nightmare and the American dream in the same life and brought it all here to Shreveport.”
The Humor & Harmony festival follows 50 Cent’s launch of a new G-Unit film studio in Shreveport in April. The studio will significantly impact job creation and economic growth in the city and the surrounding areas.
“Bringing G-Unit Studios to Shreveport is not just a business decision; it’s a commitment to fostering talent, creating opportunities, and building a community that thrives through creativity and innovation,” 50 Cent said at the studio’s opening.
