While present at what appears to be a boxing convention, Benny The Butcher offered some thoughts surrounding the ongoing beef between Drake and Kendrick Lamar, especially J.Cole’s exit from the situation. In the rapper’s opinion, J. Cole’s removal of himself was a good decision.

Benny believes the back-and-forth between Drake and Lamar is no longer about rap, but gossip. “You can see how gossipy, and everything this battle turned into,” he began. “Can you blame him for not wanting to be a part of this, at this moment?”

When asked if Cole in the end made the right move, Benny The Butcher said while he wouldn’t have gone the exact route Cole went, he understands. “I probably would’ve went about it in a different way, but it’s like [become] a gossip battle, ya know what I mean? It’s not a rap battle, it’s like…telling each other’s business type of thing. So, I wouldn’t want to be a part of that.”

What Is The Beef Between Drake, J. Cole, and Kendrick About?

A few weeks back, Future and Metro Boomin dropped off their We Don’t Trust You project. The album features the aforementioned track, with Lamar appearing to take several shots at Drake and J. Cole. Fans speculate this was in response to Drake’s “First Person Shooter,” which featured J. Cole and appeared on his For All The Dogs album.

As the world awaited Drake’s response, J. Cole released his Might Delete Later EP, on which he responded to Lamar on “7 Minute Drill.” However, shortly after, the North Carolina rapper began to have second thoughts and told the crowd at his Dreamville Festival he was removing the song from all streaming platforms.

The rappers have exchanged several diss tracks such as “Push Ups,” “Taylor Made Freestyle,” and “Family Matters” from Drake and “Euphoria,” “6:16 A.M. in LA,” and “Meet The Grahams” from Kendrick.
