Beyoncé is brimming with pride for her 12-year-old daughter, Blue Ivy, who voices Kiara in Mufasa: The Lion King, while Beyoncé reprises her role as Nala. In a behind-the-scenes clip shared by Good Morning America on December 10th, the singer, 43, gets emotional over Blue’s dedication to the project.

The video shows the mother-daughter duo in the recording booth. “Don’t stare at me,” Blue teases her mom. Beyoncé lovingly replies, “I can’t help it, you’re just too beautiful, girl. Imma be right here closing my eyes.”

Speaking with the outlet, Blue reflects on the milestone, saying, “If I had told my younger self that I was in a movie, I would never believe myself.” Beyoncé proudly responds, “Well, you are, girl. You are.”

Beyoncé becomes tearful as she shares her thoughts. “Seeing Blue as Kiara and hearing her voice come out of that character — give me a second because I can’t believe that’s my baby… I’m so proud of her.”

Blue describes the experience as “amazing,” adding, “Everybody that’s a part of this is so helpful and supportive. I’m really happy for girls that look like me all around the world [who] are able to watch this movie and hear and see themselves in it.”

Beyoncé praises Blue’s “natural” talent, saying, “She did such a beautiful job, and I can’t believe how grown up she is. I’m proud she’s representing so many young brown girls around the world. Nobody’s prouder than Mommy.”

At the film’s premiere on December 9, Beyoncé celebrated Blue’s achievements on Instagram, calling her “gorgeous” and sharing photos of Blue in a gold gown.

The event followed Jay-Z’s public denial of rape allegations made against him, which he said will deeply impact their family. “My wife and I will have to sit our children down… and explain the cruelty and greed of people,” he wrote.
