The Wrap Up with L’Orèal Luchi, keeping you informed on everything that happened in hip hop culture this week:

Quavo:

Quavo recently sat with GQ and spoke on a few things. During the conversation, he reflected on his past relationship with Saweetie and how after the video of their 2021 elevator altercation went viral, he doesn’t want the public to get the “wrong idea” about him. He also spoke on “growing” before jumping into a new relationship.

Irv Gotti:

Irv Gotti locked in a $300 million deal for Murder Inc. He sold a 50% percent ownership stake of Murder Inc.’s masters to Oliver Chastan and his company, Iconoclast. Under the new deal, 300 Ent. Will exclusively distribute physical and digital formats of all Murder Inc. records plus $200 million for TV and film projects on Viacom/BET and other networks. Irv also addressed his issues with Ashanti on his upcoming 5-part documentary premiering on August 9 on BET.

Bobby Shmurda:

Bobby Shmurda is reportedly in talks with 50 Cent for the possibility of being on TV. In an interview, Bobby said he, Fif, and talent agents were on a two-hour call, telling him he should act. According to Bobby, 50 is interested in having Bobby be on upcoming shows.

Jay Z:

In a rare interview with Kevin Hart, Jay Z spoke about his 2003 announcement of retiring. At that time, Hov said he needed a break but, as of now, doesn’t have plans of hanging up the mic. Hov said, “I never want to say that I’m retired. It’s a gift, and who am I to shut it off?” Hov went on to say he’s not sure what’s next when it comes to music, and he’s going to leave it open.

Boosie:

A video of Boosie’s Baton Rouge traffic stop with the Fairburn Police Department went viral. The rapper and his driver, D’Shun Lawerence, were pulled over, and in the footage, Boosie was distraught as the officers searched the car. Police reportedly found 11 grams of marijuana.

Boosie said he doesn’t care about no jail and said, “I’ll go in there and fight the police and spit on them bitches, every-fucking-body. ‘Cause I’m tired, bro.”

D’Shun took the weed charge, and they were both released. It appears Boosie was banned from IG following the video. Boosie had some harsh words for Mark Zuckerberg and Adam Mosseri, the head on Instagram.

Drake:

Free Drake was trending on social media earlier this week. A rumor swirled that the rapper was arrested in Sweden and taken into custody for marijuana charges. However, a rep for the rapper said the entire story is false; Drake was not detained in Sweden. It’s not clear why he’s in the country. Maybe he’s working on new music.
